It seems the report could be summarized as “let them eat crickets.”

Crickets! Will anyone at the top ever acknowledge the obvious: public health = ag policy?

“It’s easier to punch down” and “soft eugenics” are my takeaways here, probably because being in the industry I was aware of most of the details. Sadly, you’re precisely correct. My spouse sees the folks on the receiving end of these dynamics every day in her Community Health nursing practice. The price of one $30 Erewhon smoothie is what’s available for two meals for a family. Without SNAP and with food prices increasing, it will just get worse. They’re having to make the choice between bellies filled by cheap GMO row crops and their byproducts, increasing insulin prices and in some cases avoiding ICE for the crime of ‘looking brown’. I remain hopeful; Lord knows why some days.

Thank you for your well thought out feedback regarding our unhealthy “guidelines.” As consumers, we couldn’t be more disappointed in Trump and his minions wrecking our foods. We need sweeping independent and local farmers, suppliers, growers, etc. and much, much less big Ag, big business, and big lobbyists.
